Women In Need Society (WINS) 12 Days of Giving

2023 WINS Together Everyone

The holiday season is a time for giving, and at the Baun & Pate Investment Group (BPIG), we’re excited to bring back our 12 Days of Giving for 2024.

In place of sending Christmas cards, we are continuing a tradition that aligns with our core values as active members of the Calgary community. Over the course of 12 days, we will highlight a charity selected by a member of our team—one that holds personal significance to them and truly embodies the spirit of Calgary and the essence of giving back. Thanks to the generosity of Michael Pate and Craig Baun, each of these organizations will receive a $1,000 donation to support the meaningful work they do in our community.

On the fifth day of giving, Nina Atwal, our Senior Associate Investment Advisor, nominated the Women in Need Society.

Why? Founded in 1992, this Calgary-based women’s charity  empowers women and their families by providing access to essential resources that help them thrive. Through a network of seven retail stores that accept gently used clothing, shoes, and many household items, the organization generates revenue that directly supports its community programs.

Recipients receive support through learning and recreational opportunities designed to focus on personal development, help individuals meet their basic needs, build coping skills, expand social networks, and foster confidence.

The funds raised through these retail stores, along with cash donations, enable the charity to offer critical support services that help women gain knowledge, self-efficacy, and social support. This foundation encourages self-sufficiency, enabling women to pursue opportunities like finding employment or continuing their education. Also, by recycling donated items, the organization contributes to environmental sustainability, reducing waste and promoting positive environmental impact.

Programs are offered in a safe space where participants can build self-assurance, skills and community.

By bringing together the principles of charity and the practices of business, Women in Need Society (WINS) stands out as a charity social enterprise.

“I am inspired by the work done by WINS and am proud to be a supporter,” said Nina.

Please follow along on our LinkedIn page and our website as we highlight a new charity every business day until December 24th.

From the entire team at the Baun & Pate Investment Group, we wish you and your family a very happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year.

Moving beyond unipolar dominance, the U.S. aims to reshape the international order through strategic tariffs, security realignments, financial innovations, and institutional reforms—guided by historical lessons and Keynesian principles. This approach seeks to address systemic imbalances—notably the overvaluation of the dollar and unsustainable debt levels—by fostering growth, innovation, reindustrialization, and regional resilience.
