The Magic of Christmas 12 Days of Christmas
On the last day of Christmas, Craig Baun, our Senior Investment Advisor and Portfolio Manager, along with Michael Pate, our Senior Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager, nominated The Magic of Christmas.
The holiday season is a time for giving, and at the Baun & Pate Investment Group (BPIG), we’re excited to bring back our 12 Days of Giving for 2024.
In place of sending Christmas cards, we are continuing a tradition that aligns with our core values as active members of the Calgary community. Over the course of 12 days, we will highlight a charity selected by a member of our team—one that holds personal significance to them and truly embodies the spirit of Calgary and the essence of giving back. Thanks to the generosity of Michael Pate and Craig Baun, each of these organizations will receive a $1,000 donation to support the meaningful work they do in our community.
On the seventh day of giving, Melanie Duggan, our Senior Investment Associate, nominated The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
Why? “The charity I chose to support is The Kidney Foundation of Canada. It holds a special place for me as I had the personal experience of donating a kidney to a friend in 2023,” said Melanie. “I saw firsthand the impact living with kidney disease has on a person and their family as their life becomes centered around the illness and managing dialysis appointments.“
The foundation is a vital resource for funding kidney research and programs for people living with kidney disease. It is also a great educational resource on kidney health and for people newly diagnosed with kidney disease, as well as information for people like me wanting to learn more about how to become an organ donor.
“When The Kidney Foundation of Canada was launched in 1964, a person with kidney failure had very little hope of survival. At that time, there were few options for Canadians diagnosed with kidney disease. Dialysis was considered ‘an extraordinary’ treatment and only a small number of patients had access. Renal transplantation was still in its infancy and viewed as experimental.”
Significant progress has been made in the past six decades to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of kidney patients. “In 2024, the work of The Kidney Foundation is more important than ever. One in 10 Canadians is living with kidney disease and the number of people diagnosed annually continues to rise, particularly with high incidence rates of diabetes and high blood pressure. While thousands of Canadians have received kidney transplants, many more are on waiting lists hoping to find a match for a life-sustaining transplant.”
Please follow along on our LinkedIn page and our website as we highlight a new charity every business day until December 24th.
From the entire team at the Baun & Pate Investment Group, we wish you and your family a very happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
