Make-A-Wish Canada

Cresco Wealth Management is passionate about giving back to our community. For our main charity in 2021 we have chosen to support Make-A-Wish Canada and help grant a Wish. We were inspired by this brave young lady Mikah, please take a moment to read her story:

Mikah was diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL) in June of 2019. Because of her age and gender, Mikah’s ALL is considered high-risk,  which means she has a longer and tougher course of chemotherapy treatment to undergo.  Mikah will require a 2.5 year treatment schedule, which should be complete in October of 2021.

Mikah’s diagnosis left her family in ultimate shock, says her dad, Jason. “Mikah has always been a healthy kid, never sick. For her to be suddenly sick to this point was shocking”. Mikah’s family is still struggling to get used to their new normal, as the chemo Mikah has been undergoing has affected her in abnormal ways. Mikah’s ability to walk has been impacted, and she even required the use of a wheelchair for a while.  “It’s really hard to take everyone’s advice and go day by day, because every day brings us something different. ”

Mikah said that her reaction to hearing she was approved for a wish was to start crying, and then she got butterflies in her tummy. She knew right away what her wish would be; a trip to the theme parks in Florida with her family after her treatment is finished to celebrate.
