Cresco Cares is our charitable division, not only are we fundraising for big initiatives each year we also send our team on community volunteering missions every quarter.
Last week, we worked with Brown Bagging For Calgary’s Kids. 1 in 10 households in Alberta experience food insecurity – the inadequate or insecure access to food due to financial constraint. The problem is growing, and research shows that food insecurity in children is strongly linked to mental health problems and behavioral issues.
Currently, this program provides lunches for kids in over 2/3rds of Calgary’s schools, and already 2% of Calgary’s kids. In some schools they are providing just one lunch and feeding one child, in other schools, they are providing lunches for every student. The lunches provided are free and barrier free.
This wonderful program relies heavily on volunteers daily. The Cresco Cares team had a fun morning helping out, we made a total of 2,491 lunches for local kinds in need.
