Employee Spotlight: Emily Lafreniere

Emily has been an Investment Associate with the Cresco Wealth Management Team since 2021. Emily possesses a rock solid work ethic and adds a fun personality to our environment here. We asked Emily a few questions to help you get to know her better

Emily, can you tell us a little about your role here?

As an Investment Associate I am responsible for account openings, generating reports, supporting our Investment Advisors, and handling day-to-day transactions for our clients.

What do you think sets Cresco apart from the others?

In my mind what sets Cresco apart is the dedication to going the extra mile for our clients. There is an attention to detail and enthusiasm to what we do that differentiates us from other teams I’ve been a part of.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I like untangling difficult tasks and making processes more efficient. It’s satisfying knocking things off my to do list everyday.

What is your favorite thing to do to unwind?

I like to watch reality tv with friends and cook elaborate meals to kick back. Hosting is my happy place! Cooking is so methodical so it’s nice to focus on something with your hands when you’ve finished a busy day. Also, I’m a big fan of devouring pasta.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I have a near encyclopedic film knowledge which used to be a brag before everyone got smart phones 😊

What is your ideal vacation?

My ideal vacation entails eating delicious foods, looking at art, and generally pretending I’m an aristocrat somewhere where people can’t tell I’m not one.

What is your favorite board game?

I have so many! Right now I really like Encrypto, but I also love Lords of Waterdeep, Love Letters, and Terraforming Mars.

Emily, you always have a good pulse on the activities and festivals that go on in Calgary. What are your favorite things to do in Calgary and why?

I’m biased because I’m a volunteer but I can’t recommend Calgary’s film festival scene enough! The Calgary International Film Festival brings in gems from all over the world whereas the Calgary Underground Film Festival brings in amazingly weird and unique genre films!
