MSCI World Index vs. S&P500

  • The subject of this email may be a tad facetious but it is important.
  • It’s also true that our own indicators, like our PTI are largely focused on North American markets.
  • We are so worried about a the value in US and Canadian stocks, but the fact is, the rest of the world’s stock markets, as a group have gone nowhere since the 2007 peak.
  • While doing my weekend Relative Strength screen review, I noticed this chart produced by Mark Ungewitter.
  • Success in investing often boils down to simply being in the right markets. After about 2011, the US began to outperform Canada, and the world. Maybe that is about to change. For example, we noted the relative value in the Japanese market in our Chart of the Day on May 18.
  • The world is a big place and we should cast our eyes beyond our own borders.
