{"id":349,"date":"2019-07-26T22:32:11","date_gmt":"2019-07-26T22:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/advisor.wellington-altus.ca\/stuchberry1\/?p=349"},"modified":"2020-05-11T16:00:49","modified_gmt":"2020-05-11T16:00:49","slug":"the-financials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/advisor.wellington-altus.ca\/stuchberrygroup\/blog\/2019\/07\/26\/the-financials\/","title":{"rendered":"The Financials"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"349\" class=\"elementor elementor-349\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-189a7413 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"189a7413\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-7e0fdbc1\" data-id=\"7e0fdbc1\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4010725c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4010725c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWe have started into earnings season the first \u201cMarket Movers\u201d to report have been the big banks.\n\nGoldman, Citigroup, Wells Fargo and JP Morgan all reported, and the results are all fine.\n\nWhat is interesting is thus far in 2019 they couldn\u2019t be in a worse interest rate environment and all are coming out saying net interest margins will go lower, and that pain will impact them.\n\nBut all their stock prices are holding in just fine.\n\nThis chart is very interesting in that it shows the S&amp;P financial index increasing by roughly 20% as the US 10 Year Treasury declines by almost 30%, the two normally trade in similar patterns.\n<br><br>\n<center>\n<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1822\" src=\"https:\/\/advisor.wellington-altus.ca\/thestuchberrygroup\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/07\/graph-1.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/advisor.wellington-altus.ca\/thestuchberrygroup\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/07\/graph-1.png 768w, https:\/\/advisor.wellington-altus.ca\/thestuchberrygroup\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/07\/graph-1-300x130.png 300w\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"332\" \/><\/center>\n<br><br>\nAnd over a longer term, from the Trump election until now- when the yield broke out on Treasuries, the banks traded higher in lock step, but as yields declined this year, it shows the financials move back to towards their all time highs.\u00a0 This is interesting in that generally they should go up and down together, and the correlations are less relevant.\n<br><br>\n<center>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1821\" src=\"https:\/\/advisor.wellington-altus.ca\/thestuchberrygroup\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/07\/graph-2.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 776px) 100vw, 776px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/advisor.wellington-altus.ca\/thestuchberrygroup\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/07\/graph-2.png 776w, https:\/\/advisor.wellington-altus.ca\/thestuchberrygroup\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/07\/graph-2-300x126.png 300w, https:\/\/advisor.wellington-altus.ca\/thestuchberrygroup\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2019\/07\/graph-2-768x323.png 768w\" alt=\"\" width=\"776\" height=\"326\" \/><\/center>\n<br><br>\nUltimately, what we think this is telling us is that even in a difficult operating environment for the financials, these stocks are provide good value and don\u2019t seem to want to decline any further, if anything they look like they want to go higher with the market.\n\nWe\u2019re looking forward to the rest of earnings season.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have started into earnings season the first \u201cMarket Movers\u201d to report have been the big banks.
