Senior Portfolio Manager

Doug has been an independent financial planner since 1991. With his broad knowledge of the financial services industry, Doug applies his experience by taking a creative and intelligent approach to problem solving for clients. He focuses on the unique needs of individuals and corporations for portfolio management, risk management, tax and estate planning. He develops a diversified investment portfolio tailored to each client, to achieve their goals and objectives.

Prior to joining Wellington-Altus Private Counsel, Doug was President, UDP and Portfolio Manager at Wickham Investment Counsel Inc., prior to its sale to Wellington-Altus Financial Inc. in 2024. In addition  Doug has corporate management experience having worked with two leading manufacturing companies in Montreal and Toronto. He was also a research analyst with a major investment dealer on Bay Street and was co-founder and President/Director of the successful mutual fund dealer Odyssey Capital Corporation for ten years. He continues to be an active participant in several investment and planning industry associations.

Doug graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor and a Master of Arts degree in Economics and is a CFA® charterholder. Doug also completed the requirements for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Registered Financial Planner (RFP) designations.

Allan Meyer

Allan’s focus is on helping individuals, families, charities and corporations to meet their retirement needs and financial goals. Since joining Wickham Investment Counsel in 2002, he has researched and selected value investments that strive to meet his clients’ individualized risk profile, matching investments to individual risk tolerance.

With a degree in Psychology from McMaster University, Allan’s knowledge of Behavioural Finance provides valuable insights to help him better understand and serve his clients’ needs.

Allan began his career at Co-operators Investment Counsel in 1984. Over the years, he also worked as a portfolio manager at some of the largest financial institutions in Canada, including Miano Investment Management, Scotia Cassels, Elliott & Page, as well as the multi-national insurer, Zurich Insurance, where he was Director and Vice President of Equity Investments.

A member of the CFA Society Toronto, Allan has contributed to the Wall Street Transcript, and has appeared in both print and television, speaking on current financial issues.

Allan has utilized his training to create a bottom-up Safety & Value Strategy with returns that seek to outperform the benchmark with lower risk and provide his clients with a solid base for their retirement.

Allan takes his role seriously: he puts his clients’ interests first. Allan offers a transparent fee for service, conservative discretionary portfolio management style, and a warm and helpful approach.

Sean Pugliese

Senior Portfolio Manager

Sean helps private clients (individual investors), families, and other investors such as institutions, foundations, corporations, trusts and charitable organizations. With private clients, the focus is on wealth management, and an integration of investment management and retirement planning.

Teaming up with Allan Meyer, Sean and Allan believe client education, setting, as well as managing expectations are the cornerstones of a successful client relationship and use their investment philosophy focused on Safety & Value to create and manage investment portfolios.

Sean earned the CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst®) designation in 2014. He also taught a CFA® preparation course to Masters students at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business, where he also earned an Honours Commerce Degree with a specialization in Finance and Minor in Economics.

Sean was a regular contributor to the Globe and Mail’s Number Cruncher column and periodically appears in other media. His interests include fundraising, community work, networking, fishing, camping, fitness and exercise, and playing competitive and recreational sports such as touch football, hockey, golf, and soccer.

Vlad Pavaloiu

Portfolio Manager

Vlad is a discretionary Portfolio Manager with Wickham Investment Counsel. When not assisting his clients, he is also helping Doug Lane to manage his client relationships, meeting with clients and contributing to the portfolio management process.

Prior to joining Wickham Investment Counsel, Vlad worked for a large asset management company where he oversaw the performance measurement, benchmark and attribution reporting and FX trading. He had also worked in the Canadian Banking Industry as a financial advisor, analyst, and senior analyst in operations, as well as in the fixed income, project management and capital risk management departments. Before moving to Canada, Vlad worked as a manager for a larger auto manufacturer in Europe and North America.

After earning a Bachelor of Economics and Business Administration Studies from the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Romania in 2000, Vlad continued his education and earned a Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies (BMOS), Dean’s Honour List, from the University of Western Ontario in 2009. He continued his commitment to improve his knowledge and expertise and earned a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2014 as well as the industry-leading Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Charter.

Vlad is married and has 2 children. He enjoys snowboarding, scuba diving, tennis, and kiteboarding. Vlad is fluent in Romanian and Italian.

Jeff Pocock

Associate Portfolio Manager

Jeff honed his craft as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional with one of Canada’s largest investment firms with a focus on retirement, tax and estate planning, focused on incorporated business owners and professionals. His strategic planning includes individual pension plans for business owners, risk management and the placement of life insurance and tax deferred investments in the corporation.

Jeff has completed the Chartered Investment Manager designation (CIM®) and his MBA in International Business Studies at the University of Windsor and the University of Guadalajara in Mexico and was project coordinator on a BBC Documentary on Free Trade.

Prior to that, he graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours degree in music and French literature, went on to do performance studies at Mohawk College in Hamilton and taught high school for ten years.

Jeff’s articles and quotes have appeared in The Globe and Mail, CBC TV, Ontario Dentist, The Medical Post, Windsor Essex Medical Society Newsletter, Advisor’s Edge and Advisor’s Edge Report. He has also appeared on AM800, Experts on Call.

Lory Petrunti

Lory Petrunti

Office Manager

Lory joined Wickham Investment Counsel in 2014 as an Office Manager , and assists the team as needed, including the compliance department to help ensure all regulatory matters are met.

Lory also has over 18 years’ experience with one of the major Canadian banks as a Senior Administration Officer handling audit requirements for the branch and managing cash volumes of over $400,000 daily.

She returned to school and graduated with honours as a Bookkeeper at ICS Canada. In her spare time, Lory enjoys spending time with her family and friends and loves to cycle, scrapbook, and travel.
