Employee Spotlight: Sheena Schreiner

Introducing Cresco Wealth Management Investment Advisor, Sheena Schreiner. Sheena is one of the longest-tenured employees at Cresco, she is an OG who has worn nearly every hat in wealth management. A “Top 50 Women in Wealth” recipient, Sheena has a true passion for helping her clients. We asked Sheena a few questions to help you get to know her better:

How long have you been with Cresco Wealth Management, what is your role, and what led you to this career?
I’ve been with the team for nearly 14 years, which is hard to believe. When I turned 14, I thought I knew everything—now, I’m certain I do! (Haha!) I chose this career because I believe we need more professionals who genuinely care about their clients’ financial well-being. It brings me a lot of satisfaction to work with my clients, educate them, and help them attain their goals.

What is your favourite season and why? 

Summer by a landslide.  I don’t believe humans were meant to live in this climate 8-9 months out of the year.

What do you think sets Cresco Wealth Management apart from the others?
It’s the people. Each of us has a unique journey that brought us here, but we all share a common goal: to “wow” our clients every single day. As Dean often says, “We don’t do perfect,” but that doesn’t stop us from striving for it. This collective commitment to continuous improvement and genuine care for our client’s success is what truly distinguishes Cresco from the rest.

You are passionate about empowering other women to take charge of their finances; how do you accomplish this and do you have any rewarding stories to share?
My coworker Jennifer and I started a Women and Wealth Series over the last few years, it’s great to help other women by sharing information. It’s a continuous journey and you never know who might be inspired by and in what way. I did hear from one of our attendees who was so inspired by our conversation that she decided to leave her job to pursue a new career.

Outside of work, when you’re not being an amazing Investment Advisor, what are you up to?

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll find me poolside, cheering on my 10-year-old daughter, now in her 4th year as a competitive swimmer. I love spending my summers paddle boarding, walking my dogs along the river, or relaxing at my mom’s cabin and our community lake. In winter, I enjoy cozying up with a good book, with the occasional snowboarding trip to the mountains. I’ve also recently discovered a passion for the gym to stay active year-round—though cooking is still not my thing.

Tell us about your involvement with the group 100 Women Who Care

Every quarter, this group of women in Calgary come together to give to a deserving local charity every quarter.  It’s the power of numbers, so now with over 200 women giving a $100 donation every quarter, the chosen charity receives a gift of over $20K!  To hear the way our little donations have made a difference to these charities has been such a rewarding experience.  As a small token of gratitude for these incredibly generous women, I have been bringing a beautiful gift basket as a giveaway at these meetings.

In 2023, Wealth Professional Magazine named you as a “Top 50 Women in Wealth”, what does this recognition mean to you?

It means a lot. I am a big proponent of women empowering other women. If I can inspire and give other women the confidence to rise in this industry then I’ve done a good job. There is so much more room for women in this industry, and a whole market of clients ready to embrace us.

Who is your favourite Blue Jays player of all time?

Kevin Keirmaier, although he’s no longer playing for the Jays, he is forever in my heart. Just google him.  You’ll see why.

What is a motto or piece of advice you swear by?

A quote by Maya Angelou “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”.
