Podcasts are amazing resources for when you want to tackle some on-the-go multitasking. As parents of two, Kurtis and I often find ourselves in the car driving to activities or getting ourselves to our cabin in Invermere for some R&R. It’s fun to be able to squeeze in some additional education during these moments, and sometimes, the whole fam is learning something new. It’s a whole bonding experience!
Outside of these moments, I’ll listen to a podcast when I’m on a walk, tidying the house, or commuting to and from a workout. Below are some of the podcasts that make it into my weekly rotation, in case you need some new listening material.
With Jay Shetty
On Purpose is a podcast focused on mental health, featuring conversations with guests who dig into various mindset exercises, explore wellness tools, and address what it really means to be a human living in our world. Jay Shetty has a true gift for translating wisdom into tangible “next steps.” I always come away from one of his episodes having learned something new!
With Steven Bartlett
I know many of you are either on your entrepreneurial journey or are thinking about it, and I have the podcast for you. You hear about Diary of a CEO often, and that’s because it’s a goodie. You can always tell how much thought and care has been put into every episode, and each guest has something amazing to share with you. In this podcast, you get into the personal diaries of entrepreneurs, experts, therapists, and leaders. If you’re not “on the go,” this one comes with a video version that you can tune into as well. Episodes range from thirty minutes to an hour and a half, and I’m always intrigued during every minute.
With Melissa Wood-Tepperberg
I talk about Melissa Wood-Tepperberg often, mainly because I love her mat workouts and app that she created many years ago. I’ve been a big fan since day 1!
Melissa has an incredibly calming presence, yet one that inspires you to continue pushing forward. This pod is one of the most inspiring for me – it’s a great, relatable one for anyone. Through her episodes, Melissa addresses mindfulness and self-care, but in a way that never feels preachy or out of reach. She meets you exactly where you are and provides wonderful insights for navigating your health and wellness, motherhood journey, and embodiment of style.
With Dr. Becky Kennedy
If you have kids, this podcast is non-negotiable. Dr. Becky Kennedy helped me change the way I think about various parenting ideas and hacks, and better yet, in a positive and empowering way (rather than judgmental). Her messages are always so encouraging because she truly recognizes the parenting moments that we all go through – from those sleepless nights to the information paralysis.
What does the podcast centre on? That you are a good parent. I’ve found myself calmer, more curious, and a lot less reactive since I started listening, and I always recommend this pod for new parents and those going through a tough season.
With Mel Robbins
Ugh, I love Mel Robbins. We met at one of our Wellington-Altus conferences a couple of years back, and she was just as incredible in person as she is through her pod. You can expect 1-1.5 hours of good, solid research-backed advice. This one inspires you to continue adding to your life, and by adding, I mean adding the good stuff that propels you forward. Her approach is practical, punchy, and deeply human, noting real-life experiences and applying theory and tools to these. When I finish an episode, I always feel more empowered to take on my next big thing than I did before.
I hope you enjoy listening to an episode from whichever podcast speaks to you – we really are so lucky to have 24/7 access to these! For more relatable resources and of course, financial support, you can find me on my Instagram at Wealth With Julie.
