My Favourite Workouts in Calgary

Calgary has no shortage of workout studios, classes or trails to help you get the blood pumping. 💪🏼 I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there’s nothing like a good workout class to intentionally set yourself and your day up for success. From the physical and mental benefits, there’s a lot to be said about those good endorphins, and I’m here to share with you some of my personal faves in the city. To give you a bit of a preview, Barry’s and Rumble Boxing are always in the mix, but you’ll have to read on for my top recommendations!

Barry’s Canada

Located in the heart of charming Mission, Barry’s is the place to be if you want a hard HIIT workout. Coined “the best workout in the world,” it combines running and weights to bring you a non-stop, motivational workout. The instructors truly push you to bring your A-game, and Brenna Herbert is a tried and true for me – there’s no class like hers! A big bonus is The Fuel Bar, Barry’s hub for grab and go goodies, whether it’s a shake, cold pressed juice or snack.

Rumble Boxing

It’s no new news that I’m a huge fan of Rumble Boxing, so much so that my husband and I purchased Rumble Aspen, which is set to open this fall! We all know that the OG location was Rumble’s 17th storefront, and I always find myself back in the box downtown. I love how the second you step into the box, reality can seem miles away. If you’re not taking one of the group fitness classes, I highly recommend booking a private session with Conrad Corbiere, Founding and Master Trainer.

The Rare Method

The Rare Method is a beautiful, mindful membership-based digital studio offering yoga-based movement, breathwork, meditation and more. Created by the wonderful Randelle Lusk, a long-time coach and somatics educator, The Rare Method allows you to remain in-touch with yourself at home or on the go. Although there’s not a brick and mortar location in Calgary, the platform offers enough classes to match workout studios in the city, at 90+ classes with on demand access. There’s even a 7-day free trial that you can access here before purchasing a full membership!

Melissa Wood Health

I’ve raved about Melissa Wood Health before, but I love her wellness and lifestyle platform because of the wide range of workouts that are offered. Whether it’s yoga, pilates, meditations or more, there are many types of workouts at varying lengths, making it perfect for anyone and everyone. Compared to our Canadian option, The Rare Method, MWH offers 500+ workouts with new classes every week and custom schedules for 3 tiers of intensity and live streamed classes. She also offers a 7-day free trial so you can try the platform and workouts out before you make the leap.

Weightlifting

Of course, I have to end off with my personal favourite—simply, weightlifting. There’s nothing like putting the Airpods in, getting into the zone and crushing some weights (especially in our new office gym at The Edison!). If you ever need some guidance, a quick Google or search on YouTube can do wonders for providing a bit of an outline for your workout.

If you’ve tried any of these workouts or want to in the future, let me know on my Instagram by sending me a DM. Soon enough, we’ll be relying on these workouts to get us through the Calgary winter, but we don’t need to think about that quite yet. For the time being, enjoy these, because I sure do!
