An Evans Family Thanksgiving Menu: Comfort Food, Stories & a Few Family Secrets

There’s something about Thanksgiving that feels like the official start of fall at the Evans house. The cooler weather outside, the smell of cinnamon in the kitchen, and the sound of dishes clinking as everyone helps set the table—it’s the kind of holiday that reminds us of what we’re grateful for: family, friends, and the traditions that keep us close.

This year, we thought we’d share our Evans Family Thanksgiving menu. We’re not giving away full recipes (some secrets stay in the family!), but we’ll let you in on the gist of each dish so you can picture the spread and maybe even borrow a few ideas for your own table.

Anne’s Signature Charcuterie Board: A Crowd-Pleasing Starter

No one ever goes hungry while the turkey is in the oven. Anne’s charcuterie board is always the first thing to hit the table. Her rule? More is more when it comes to charcuterie boards! Expect creamy brie next to sharp aged cheddar, salty prosciutto beside sweet grapes, crunchy crackers next to fresh baguette, dried apricots, and a swirl of honey for dipping. A little taste of everything keeps everyone happy.

Glen’s Honey-Pineapple Ham: A Sweet & Savory Main Course

Glen’s the grill-master year-round, but at Thanksgiving he switches gears for his famous baked ham. The sweet pineapple-and-honey glaze caramelizes in the oven until it’s glossy and golden. It’s the dish that makes the whole kitchen smell like the holidays.

Grandma’s Signature Potato Casserole

This recipe has been passed down for generations. It’s creamy and buttery under the surface, but it’s the crispy, golden top layer that starts the friendly table-side bidding war. Calling “dibs” on the corner pieces is practically a family tradition.

Anne’s Loaded Salad with Candied Pecans and Feta

Anne insists every plate needs something fresh to balance out the carbs, but this isn’t your average salad. Her candied pecans steal the show, and she never skimps on the feta. Tossed with seasonal greens, apple slices, and a tangy vinaigrette, it’s become a family favourite.

Glen’s Candied Carrots: A Holiday-Table Showstopper

It’s not Thanksgiving at the Evans house without Glen’s brown sugar and honey carrots. They’re decadent, almost dessert-like—so much so that even Sam (Briana’s husband, who usually avoids vegetables) cleans his plate.

The Grand Finale: Briana’s Caramel Apple Pie

For dessert, Briana brings the show-stopping homemade caramel apple pie. The secret to the rich, flavourful, flakey pastry? A dollop of sour cream in the dough. Layered with tart apples, buttery caramel, and a hint of cinnamon, it’s the perfect way to end the meal—especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.

From Our Table to Yours: Wishing You a Warm Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is about more than what’s on the table; it’s about the conversations, the laughter, and the memories you make together. Whether you try one of these dishes or simply enjoy your own traditions, we hope your holiday is full of warmth and connection.
