As a Senior Wealth Advisor and Associate Portfolio Manager, I spend my days helping my clients build and protect their financial futures. As we kick off each journey, we believe it’s important to sit down together and discuss the road ahead, as well as what’s led them to where they are. This allows us to gather a better understanding of their motivations, goals, and what truly makes them tick. Throughout this process, I’ve learned the importance of investing in myself so I can show up for them, day in and day out.
Over time, I’ve further refined the habits in my week that effectively keep me feeling grounded, energized, and inspired. Today, I’m running through five of the healthy habits that I implement into my daily routine. Have a read below!
Physical Movement Every. Single. Day.
If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know that physical movement is a non-negotiable for me. Whether it’s an early morning Barry’s session, a midday workout at Vital, or a family walk or run with our dog Bentley, I make sure to get some kind of workout in. It’s been a game changer for my mindset and instantly boosts my mood. Listening to what my body and mind need and adjusting my routine helps me stay on track throughout the week.
My Morning Meditation Practice
Before the busyness of the day hits, I dedicate part of my morning to finding stillness and inspiration. My go-to resource for this is Melissa Wood Health’s app, which offers hundreds of guided meditations. Every morning, I’ll choose one that speaks to where I am that day and take the time to listen and digest, soaking up all the wisdom she has to offer. By starting my day slowly, I’m able to handle even my most demanding days with intention and a calm approach. It reminds me that I have the power to determine what my day becomes!
Ongoing Professional Development
As an entrepreneur, I’m always learning more about my business and myself. Through weekly sessions with my professional development coach Heather, I’m able to focus on developing a new skill or refining my approach. This ritual ensures that I’m keeping myself and my business top of mind! I love sitting down and connecting with her, as I always leave feeling refreshed and ready for anything.
Quality Time with My People
My family is the centre of my world, and my husband Kurtis and I make a conscious effort to carve out meaningful, quality time with the kids during the week. Sometimes it’s a visit to our favourite ice cream shop, or a visit to the park with the dog. Even if it’s a small moment of time together, we prioritize each other because it’s important during these years. I just love learning from kids, and it helps us connect outside the busyness of life.
Rotating in Great Reads
I don’t always have the most time to squeeze in a good read, but I do love to put my phone down and turn a fresh page. Educated by Tara Westover is an amazing read if you haven’t read it already! It’s a memoir that challenges assumptions about knowledge, resilience, and self-determination. In my opinion, slowing down and reducing screentime is crucial to my well-being.
