Day 9: Inn From the Cold: 12 Days of Giving

IFTC Logo

The holiday season is all about giving, and at Aspire Wealth Partners, we are thrilled to continue our tradition of the 12 Days of Giving in 2025

In place of sending Christmas cards, we are embracing a tradition that reflects our core values and commitment to the Calgary community. Over 12 days, every other business day leading up to Christmas, and then daily during Christmas week, we will spotlight a charity chosen by one of our team members. Each organization holds personal meaning and embodies the true spirit of giving back. To support their important work, each featured charity will receive a minimum donation of $1,000. Together, we celebrate a season of gratitude, generosity, and community impact.

On the ninth day of giving, Melanie Duggan, our Senior Investment Associate, nominated Inn From the Cold.

Why? Inn From the Cold is Calgary’s largest and oldest organization dedicated solely to supporting families facing homelessness. Not having a place to sleep as an individual is already hard to imagine, but it’s even more heartbreaking to think of experiencing it as a family.

“On any given night, approximately 130 families will sleep under an Inn from the Cold roof through our shelter and housing programs, with many others receiving support through our prevention and diversion program”.

“My first introduction to Inn from the Cold was volunteering when it operated out of church basements offering a meal and a bed during cold winter nights,” said Melanie.  The organization has grown significantly over the past 25 years, including opening Calgary’s first Emergency Family Shelter, offering support programs in addition to shelter, and recently converting vacant office space into affordable housing.

Their three main programs now are:

Prevention & Diversion – helping families avoid homelessness by offering rent support, mediation, and referrals; keeping them housed before a crisis escalates

Family Shelter – providing safe, short-term shelter with meals, childcare, and case management for families who have nowhere else to go

Supportive Housing – offering community-based, transitional and affordable housing options for families and expectant mothers

They do so much more than provide a temporary roof over someone’s head ♡

Please follow along on our LinkedIn page and our website as we highlight a new charity until December 24.

From the entire team at Aspire Wealth Partners, we wish you and your family a very happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
